Some Of My Favorite Face Moisturizers Are......

Skin types vary, and so must your moisturizer. Despite our differences, nearly all skin types can benefit from the right type of face moisturizer.

Dry skin types can certainly attest to this. Without a daily dose of hydration your skin would be flaky, itchy and tight. Luckily, this list of the best moisturizers includes products that deliver intense hydration that lasts all day without causing breakouts or greasiness.

Oily skin types might use moisturizer less often, but you actually need it just as much. Because people with oily or acne-prone skin often apply drying products, your skin may start to produce more oil to balance it out (yikes). But using a light moisturizer (especially one with oil-control properties) can help keep skin in balance and cause it to produce less oil over time. Thankfully, this list also includes light moisturizers that are perfect for oily skin -- ones that don't cause breakouts or extra shine, but do offer some hydration.

If you have sensitive skin, you know that a good moisturizer can calm redness or flare-ups from skin issues like eczema. Most sensitive skin will benefit from a basic moisturizer without a lot of added chemicals or preservatives, and there are plenty of products on this list that fit the bill.

I have compiled a few of the face Moisturizers that I have tried over the years. Staring with the most recent one:

  • Abeille Royale Day Cream by Guerlain Paris

The new Abeille Royale Rich Day Cream transforms the skin’s appearance both instantly and over time. Day after day, wrinkles and fine lines are smoothed, skin texture is refined, the skin firmer and its radiance boosted. With a balm-like texture, this cream is enriched with beeswax and brings instant comfort and nourishment.

70% of the signs of ageing are due to mechanical stress and UV rays. These cause micro-tears within the dermis and epidermis which are responsible for wrinkles and loss of firmness.

The Abeille Royale Repairing Concentrate, formulated with pure honey from the Black Bees on the Island of Ouessant and exclusive Guerlain Royal Jelly, stimulates the skin’s self-repair* process at every key level.
Combined with low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, it helps revitalize the surface of the skin for instant long-lasting improvements on its appearance.

The ladies Vanity First Perfumes & Cosmetics Duty Free (located on St.Rose Arcade , Philipsburg, St.Maarten) will be more than happy to provide you with more information on the effectiveness of this day cream...For now I can tell you it is soft like Butter On your skin!

Most Skin Care experts would advice for you not to mix lines within your cleansing regime. This is why it is important to have a proper skin care consultation to determine your choice of brand based on your skin type, age, skin condition etc. The brand is not as relevant as knowing the benefits that each product can do for the enhancement, maintenance and rejuvenation of your skin. An important element is for you to remember choosing a moisturizer that has an SPF built in or to add sunblock to your cleansing / protection & daily routine.

The Best Skincare Routine For Your 30s

How you take care of your skin in your 30s will set the tone for the decades you have ahead so it’s important to build a strong routine now. Whatever you thought you knew about your skin, mouth and body will start changing. “Women in their 30s start to see changes and can tell that their appearance is changing, but can’t really pinpoint what is happening exactly,” shares Dr. Flor A. Mayoral, board-certified dermatologist of Coral Gables, Florida. Your skin’s health and look builds upon what you did in your twenties. If you have taken care of yourself up until now, the common concerns that come along with your 30s wont make as much of an impact. But, if you didn’t have the best skin care routine in your younger years, like sleeping with your makeup on or skipping SPF at the beach, don’t worry, your 30s is still a good place where you can slow down the passage of time.

Cleanse twice a day: The basic first step in the best skin care routine for any age: Cleansing in the morning and night in addition to removing your makeup before bed is crucial. You may touch your face with dirty hands, sweat and come in contact with certain biological elements that age your skin – it’s important to wash all of that away. To get in the habit of washing your skin twice a day try linking it to brushing your teeth so that it becomes a part of your routine without even thinking of it.

Protect with SPF: Sun damage builds up over the years and it is difficult to take back. Again, something essential for great skin of all ages, the best skin care routine should include sunscreen. “I start to make women in their 30s aware of the need to apply their moisturizer with 30 SPF on their chest and hands when they are applying it to their face. It saves time and ensures that other exposed areas are also a part of the rejuvenation routine,” recommends Dr. Mayoral. “I always tell them that it is important to plan for their 50s. Anyone can look good at 30. It really is up to them to continue to look youthful in 20 years, and that their skin care routine will pay off in the end.”

Fight wrinkles: Noticed your first wrinkle? In our 30s, “Collagen production has already decreased and replacement of the skin cells has slowed down (epidermal cell turnover) in addition to fat pads on the face becoming somewhat smaller,” explains Dr. Mayoral. Look for anti aging products specific to different areas of your skin to better target lines and wrinkles. Also incorporate a day (with SPF) and night cream and use them both accordingly 365 days a year. A good pair: RevitaLift® Anti-Wrinkle and Firming Day Cream Moisturizer has SPF 25 and RevitaLift ® Anti-Wrinkle and Firming Night Cream Moisturizer with pro-retinol.

Regain brilliance: A common and perhaps new concern you may face in your 30s is skin dullness or a loss of brilliance. You may be slightly starting to lose the oily sheen that gives off a radiant glow. Hydration is essential in restoring that radiance. Now is a nice time to break into facial oils, especially one that contains rose oil, which quenches the skin. Moisturizers, creams and serums with hyaluronic acids, like RevitaLift® Volume Filler Serum, will also help draw in moisture and hydrate skin. Moisturize in the morning, load up on your SPF in your facial oil, moisturizer and even foundation, and apply a night cream before bed.

Even skin tone: You may now start to see the damage that has been done in your twenties: Perhaps scars are showing that developed years prior from picked pimples or black heads. Before your skin was plump and you couldn’t see it. But, your skin’s capacity to heal itself isn’t as strong as it used to be. “AHA’s/BHA’s Glycolic, lactic and salicylic acid help with the sloughing of the top layers of the skin. These will exfoliate the dead cells, even out the skin tone and make the skin look smoother,” shares Dr. Mayoral.

Control break outs: “Women in their 30s with acne should make sure that their skin care routine includes salicylic acid. It is non-irritating, penetrates the pores, and is extremely helpful in controlling this problem,” says Dr. Mayoral. Look for cleansers that contain salicylic acid or use benzoyl peroxide, an antibacterial, as a cleanser. Pregnancy TLC: Pregnant skin changes as it is subject to hormones that change. The body can rebound easier in our 20s and go back to wear it was because the skin is able to bounce back. Skin in your 30s is not as flexible. Pay attention to taking care of the skin by hydrating regularly. How you treat your skin, will impact how the skin reacts.

Stress less: Tight deadlines, packed schedules and family tensions make a huge impression on the skin. Maintaining your stress levels should be a part of the best skin care routine. Make it a point to relax and rest. Take a bath, read a book or unwind by taking a yoga class. Embracing a calmer attitude, when you can, will de-stress your mind and your skin.

Your 30s is the time in your life to set the tone for your 40s and 50s. You have the possibility to have good skin and good habits later in life. As we age and as we become more of who we think we are it is much more difficult to change. Take the time for yourself now and implement the best skin care routine to keep you looking beautiful now and in the decades to come.

Blog Exclusive: Rissa's Fashion Trends Presents 3rd Annual Food, Fashion & Beauty Expo

The Beauty Expo concept has been in existence as far back as 100 years. As the International Beauty Show - New York will be celebrating 100 years in 2017!

This only means that the interest in Beauty has been around longer than most of us. It is possible that ancient Egyptians were besotted with superficial appearance, much as we are today. Indeed, perhaps they even set the template for how we still perceive beauty.

On our little 37 square of diversity, our women are no different from the rest of the world as we engage in current beauty trends and style, while keeping up with our Caribbean flare. We can honestly say that the Beauty Expo Concept although relatively new on our island, has been consistently growing since 2012 when the concept was introduced. Capturing different elements and components under what we perceive as the "Beauty Umbrella".

This weekend we are in for another annual treat by: Rissa's Fashion Trends as they Present their 3rd Annual Food, Fashion & Beauty Expo. Kerai Kreative Style was able to capture an exclusive blog interview on how this all started,  what can we expect this Saturday and where do we see the event heading in the next coming years.

  • How it all Started?

" At the age of 26, I was inspired by different factors. Primarily while working in the hospitality industry, I was told that I should consider becoming an entrepreneur. Rissa's Fashion Trends basically started as a home business, and within my circle of friends I realized that they also were aspiring entrepreneurs. In addition to this different young women (the humble owner of this blogger was one of them) in our community also inspired me to take the risk and instead of living a dream, to start creating a reality. Dr. Will Moreland was definitely and inspiration source as well, and I hold on to all of those inspirations to give me the motivation that I needed and that is how Rissa's Fashion Trends was born".

  • Why did you create the Food, Fashion & Beauty Expo?

" I wanted to give my fellow young entrepreneurs the opportunity to expose their products and talents. We have some many persons on this island that are good in different trades, but they do not always get the option of the community hearing about them. This was the perfect setting to make this happen. I started small, and I mad major support of friends and family. The second year it also showed substantial growth and vendors, and that is when we decided that we needed a bigger venue in order to accommodate the this year's Expo. Which brings us right down to this coming Saturday, when we promise to provide our vendors and attendees an evening of pure fun, entertainment and great shopping opportunities".

  • Can we expect a 4th and 5th?

"Continuation is inevitable at this point, we have seen the growth and we expect that with a structured and dedicated team, the event will grow in quality, vendors, attendees. We will of course strive to incorporate interesting changes that will keep the dynamic and the diversity of the event alive".

  • What about regional expansion?

"It s something that we will love to do! To be able to take our ideas to neighboring islands, where the concept is also present and growing. More challenging would be of course to take it to islands where it is still underdeveloped".

  • What Can we expect this Saturday qua vendors / entertainment? Give our readers a little preview...

" Well this year we have Urban Connect on board, catering to the male component of the event. So ladies please come out with the men. It is also  children's friendly environment. We have collaborated with a dance group from Sundial, and it is nice to have the students showcase their talents as well. Of course we will have music entertainment by:

  1. Denisio RiddimMaster DeejayVybz
  2. Magueda Jackson
  3. Karen Cadogan

"Vendors highlight: Melange, Touch Of Royalty, Wazzaal Lifestyle. Our youngest vendor to date; the Henna Princess, In Style Divas. In total Over 30 vendors that we hope to keep everyone entertain and also that we are able to capture the interest of our audience".

Your Skin.....

"Your skin is your best outfit.....Wear it proudly!" - AF - Annastacia's Facialism

When you choose an outfit, you start by choosing clean clothes, whatever your style, taste or what’s fashionable at the moment.

Your skin is the only outfit you will ever wear for a lifetime and, just like fashion, it’s sensitive to time.

A good skin care regime is the foundation to healthy skin, and healthy skin stands the test of time, thus allowing us to age gracefully.

The most important part of a good skin care routine is cleansing.

To cleanse your skin you need an adequate cleanser, especially made for that special skin on your face.

Water does not cleanse pores; soap strips the skin of necessary moisture causing fine lines and wrinkles.

Meet Fresh Cleanse by T. Barnes

Fresh Cleanse is a foaming face wash for all skin types, that deeply but gently cleanses and leaves the skin with a healthy glow. Made from pure organic orange juice and rich in essential oils, Fresh Cleanse removes dirt without stripping the skin of it’s natural moisture.

Beauty Trends 2016

2016 is t here, and just like every other year some trends will stay and new ones will develop. To keep you abreast of what’s hot and what’s not, we asked Lucie Greene, Director of JWT Innovation, to offer beauty predictions for 2016.

1. Mystic Beauty

Astrology is creeping into the beauty space as crystals, gemology and the language of magic is making a mark in the industry. For 2016, Greene believes more brands will have a celestial theme. “Magic, spiritualism and astrology are undergoing a renaissance as consumers shift away from mainstream religions,” says Greene. “New brands are repackaging the cues of mysticism and gems, connecting them to wellbeing products for a hip millennial audience.”

2. Beauty Foods

The lines between beauty and food continue to blur. New boutique brands are turning to ingredients that are usually eaten as super foods, and using them to create beauty products and recipes—a trend that sits within the holistic way consumers now see wellbeing. “Consumers are recognizing the connection between what they eat and how they look,” says Greene. “Food trends continue to influence the beauty sector, from ingredients to terminology.”

3. Single Ingredients

Beauty brands are taking the concept of purity to extremes, using a single ingredient in many products. South Carolina label RMS Beauty’s “Un” Powder consists of 100% pure silica. “The organic cosmetic market will be valued at $66.1 billion by 2020, according to a 2015 report from research company Future Market Insights,” says Greene. “Consumers are choosing natural products over those that are chemically enhanced. Brands are going the extra step by stripping down to a single active and natural ingredient that will provide the same beauty benefits as a product containing multiple ingredients.”

4. Freckles

In the London Fashion Week spring/summer 2015 shows, Preen and fast-fashion giant Topshop featured freckles applied by renowned make-up artist Val Garland. For Rag & Bone and Edun’s spring/summer 2016 fashion shows, make-up artists Gucci Westman and Charlotte Tilbury added freckles to models’ faces. “User-generated content, Tumblr and social media are empowering young consumers to celebrate their individualism,” says Greene.

5. Solid Beauty

A wave of solid beauty items and waterless products is appearing on the market. Solid products provide convenience, when traveling for example, and waterless products economize on water, too. “From hair care products and make-up to clothing care, consumers are increasingly moving away from water-based products,” says Greene. “This is partly for convenience—but consumers are also mindful of the environmental impact of excessive use of water.”

6. Small-Batch Beauty

Batch-made beauty products, formulated in small runs and with limited shelf life, are on the rise. The companies behind them are celebrating the variation between collections, tapping into consumer desire to move away “The beauty sector is echoing many consumers’ preference for food and drink that is fresh and natural, and produced on a small scale,” says Greene.
