Happy Holidays! Dress Up & Show Up!

The Pandemic may have slowed us down a lot, however, the holidays are here and I want to inspire to dress up regardless of what is going on in the world. If you know me, you would agree that I am someone that seldom needs an excuse to celebrate, the Holidays just happen to be an added reason.

Fashion has a way of inspiring and enabling you to showcase your self – confidence (which is by the way the best accessory you will EVER wear!). As we have seen over the past months, the rise of virtual events is on the rise. The social element within a community or society is still important and these virtual connections make this a possibility for us to celebrate from the safety of our home.

The reality is that we will be dealing with this pandemic for a while, and for us to safeguard our mental health, we do need to explore different outlets where we can release stress. For me, that outlet is blogging, fashion, and being able to creatively express myself. Which brings me to share with you my inspiration of how the assembling of my first Holiday look came to life!

Hair

Bantu Knots – I wanted to show you that embracing your natural crown comes with so much versatility. In addition to that, you can be as creative as you want with it (hence my purple touch) without feeling that it is too much. In my book, you do not need to apologize for freely enjoying everything that your hair can bring to the “table”.

Makeup

One of the things that I enjoy the most, is getting my face beat. Although I have improved my application techniques, there is just something about a makeup artist finalizing your glam look that is different than when you do it yourself. It is also a great opportunity to indulge in some of me and self-pampering time.

Blue Maxi Dress

Cobalt blue happens to be one of the colors of this season. Blue was also the color for 2020! I thought this was a great way to pay homage to both occasions. What I adore about this dress is the fact that it has pockets!! You all know how women and pockets roll, there is just something about pockets that gives your outfit that extra HMPPF!

Another thing that this dress gives you, is that it simple enough to create drama…I know it sounds like an oxymoron but I promise you that it is possible. All I did was add a layered pearl necklace and, the dress went from day to glam. I always recommend to my clients to have staple pieces in their closet. This is considered one.

Shoes

Cobalt blue is a synonym for neutral…. yes, repeat after me! In addition to the fact that it is a neutral color, matching shoes have not been an outfit requirement in over a decade. Having said that, coral shoes were a great fit for this look, they are one of my favorite shoes (I purchased them during a Blogging’s trip to Aruba).

Putting this look together was so much fun! I can tell you this will not be my last look with Bantu Knots and I hope that my style has inspired you to come out of your comfort zone and try something new for the holidays!
