Blogger’s adventure in the big apple – New York City

Boat dinner cruise around Manhattan

I have not written to you guys in a minute…life HAPPENS right! However, I wanted to share with you my latest Blogger’s adventure in the big apple, better known as New York City! In September (my birth month), I got the opportunity to visit one of my favorite cities in the world. I was selected to be part of an amazing conference, organized by Mobil Lubricants (as their official Influencer). This endeavor was to discover the production, testing, and research backgrounds of one of the world’s leading lubricants” Mobil by ExxonMobil Oil company. It was an incomparable experience that will certainly add value to the continuation of handling and development of the brand for our local consumers.

As you know, I have been securing influence marketing for Mobil Lubricants, which is locally distributed by Sol Antilles NV, St. Maarten for the last 2 years, under the guidelines and brand expectations for both Sol Petroleum and Mobil Lubricants.

This was an opportunity to deep dive into the quality, testing, and production of Mobil lubricants. One of the highlights of this trip was to be able to visit the ExxonMobil research facility in Clinton, N.J., a key center of innovation that supports the company’s broad research and development programs. ExxonMobil is engaged in a broad range of programs and partnerships focused on developing scalable, energy solutions to meet global demand while minimizing environmental impacts and mitigating the risk of climate change. Information and panel discussions were shared on electricity versus fuel and its components with projections of the change in the automotive industry being some of the key discussion points that I got to witness.

Being able to be part of a group of experts and professionals in various fields and countries was mind-blowing and a priceless learning experience that I am eager to communicate to my audience. I am grateful for my multilingual background as the conference was in Spanish, which enabled me to be able to be part of this experience, translate it and prepare it for further execution in our market. Grateful for the opportunity and partnership of Sol Antilles NV St. Maarten and Mobil Lubricants for entrusting me with their brand and creating awareness for a product of premium quality and imperative for the ultimate care of your vehicle (commercial or personal).

Everything was not about work, the team did a wonderful job in combining leisure and training in the Big Apple, a city that never sleeps and lives up to that statement. We got to enjoy, an exclusive guided tour through Manhattan, group outings, personal free time, and a magnificent closing of the program through the waters of Manhattan during a dinner boat cruise, that included a culinary experience and LIVE entertainment while you dined and enjoyed the beautiful skyline of New York City during the night (not forgetting that the climate was cooperative and it enabled us to enjoy the full experience).

Blogging and Influence Marketing is a relatively young phenomenon in St. Maarten but we have seen significant growth over the last 3 years (a lot of it was pumped by the pandemic) and many bloggers are taking the plunge into this world of opportunities. However, it’s not just about posting pictures and random thoughts. As a blogger, you need to be consistent. You need to choose your main subject, and make sure you not only talk the talk but also walk the walk. You need to be approachable and maintain contact with your followers, and keep them engaged with your posts. Most importantly, you need to remain authentic to your brand and the brands that you represent.

Although very focused and self-assured, I know the struggle of maintaining a digital presence that is engaging for the blog and her audience, I am just happy that this trip to NYC was such a success. I am aware that people follow me and it is for them that I do the things I do, but still, it humbles me when I realize it.

I will continue to encourage anyone that is thinking of building a digital brand, to take the risk and do it. There is no overnight formula, it takes time, discipline, and effort. She would also like to thank her local partner: Sol Antilles NV St. Maarten & Mobil lubricants for ensuring that she was part of this learning experience.  “We are always in support of growth and initiatives that can stimulate the understanding of our products to our consumers and team members, by providing Kenty with this valuable insight we are sure that this is an undisputed added value for this market,” says the team at Sol Antilles NV (General Manager, Mr. Robert James, and Executive Sales Representative Mrs. Marisca Hunt – Peterson.
