Make An EVENT out of Everything…Errands included!

The truth is, life is too short to overthink things. This pandemic has taught me to take life less seriously and enjoy the moments you can with the ones you love!

Saturdays have always been my favorite days, since I was a little girl, I look forward to welcoming Saturday in particular. It was the day that I got to sleep in a little bit, but also dress up (yup, have loved fashion since I could walk lol) and go do errands with my mom. I do not think is a Caribbean thing per se, I think the world population does their errands on Saturday perioddtt!

In any event, women often ask me, how do I manage to make even making errands an event? The truth is, I have always liked to do things my way and I am unorthodox by default, so traditional is not exactly what I usually go for! So Saturdays, although they involve meeting clients, creating content and doing errands for the home front I like to do it is STYLE!

Normally I am a head wrap girl on Saturdays, but these days I been rocking my fro with some extensions of crochet braids! I love #bighairdontcare

Let me share with you some of my tips on doing errands in style:

  1. Create an errands list during the week. This will help you assess your route and the most practical way that you can dress while covering all moments.
  2. Have a “Saturday” or “Errands Day” allocated in your closet. This will help facilitate your search on the day of.
  3. Try to combine outfits that you can go from the supermarket to a client’s meeting, I always have an extra pair of shoes in my car, just in case I need to step things up. The reality is that women never really stick to their plans (hahaha).
  4. If you are bringing your kids along (Mompreneurs), make sure that they have something to eat and entertain themselves. This will help maintain your sanity.
  5. If you are a makeup lover or not this does not really matter because this is totally skincare, wear SPF, especially in the Caribbean the sun rays are extra harsh, do not underestimate them. If you live in a cold climate, make sure you moisturize your skin and layer your outfits.
  6. Wear your confidence and a SMILE, everything else is secondary!

This customized African skirt is everything! Been in my closet hanging for a while, I stopped waiting on any occasion to dress up!

Earlier this month I took the Sol Team & Mobil Lubricants out during my Saturday of errands! Creating content on the go is not always the easiest and sometimes the extra pair of eyes and angles results in a fantastic footage.  While I was with them I decided well I might as well pop some hoods, get a crash course on gasoline and diesel and the right Mobil lubricant that I should use for my vehicle. I was truly lost, I am such a FEMALE when it comes to that, but this is why I am looking forward to more learning moments with Mobil.

So I learned that most engines require anywhere between 5 to 8 quarts of oil. For example, a 4-cylinder engine will require at least 5 quarts of oil and a 6cylinder engine will require around 6 quarts of motor oil (Mobil lubricants are exclusively distributed by Sol Petroleum St.Maarten ). Something else that I learned was that diesel and gasoline vehicles use completely different lubricants (had no clue of this). When you do errands, you add mileage to your car, and is important to also share some tips that will help you feel more safely on the road with your car of course:

  • Your owner’s manual tells you the maximum interval you can wait between changes, but the more often you change the oil on any vehicle, the longer the vehicle will live and the healthier it will be.
  • Be sure to check your oil dipstick at least once a week, and change the oil filter every time you change the oil.
  • Changing the engine oil on a routine basis ensures your car’s engine keeps running smoothly.
  • Use certified brands: Ensure that the lubricant is from a certified manufacturer and those that keep evolving with technological advancements. Mobil meets or exceeds API and International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC) motor oil service requirements of all new‐car manufacturers, both import and domestic.
  • Always read the label:  If you are purchasing from a certified brand, the manufacturer will usually give detailed information of the products and which it’s usage. Plus, you can always seek advice form the dealer you’re purchasing from or your auto care specialist!

This is how I ended up driving around, decked out and branded with Mobil and the team of Sol St. Maarten. Coincidence that I was dressed in Mobil colors?! (Of course not, you guys know that I am very strategic, however it was the necklace for me! Handmade on St. Maarten by a very talented jewelry designer (Cristal Legrand) of Le Grand Solutions.
